Hello. The fall term at HIUC Osaka has ended, and the students are now enjoying a one-week break from school. Then they will return for the winter term.
At the end of the term, we had a Halloween party. It was organized and run by the students. They planned what events we would do and decorated the room. They also were in charge of running the events and taking care of everyone. I thought they did a pretty good job. I had a good time at the party, and it looked like everyone else had fun, too. Almost everyone was wearing a costume. Most of the teachers were also dressed up.
We had a big lunch of pizza, sushi, donuts, and snacks. There was a lot of food, so everyone had more than enough to eat. We played some games like wrap the mummy, bingo, blind paper shaping, and others. Blind paper shaping is when you hold a piece of paper behind your back and you have to fold it and tear it into the shape that the game leader says. For example, the game leader says ‘witch’s hat.’ Then everyone tries to make a witch’s hat by folding and tearing a piece of paper behind their back. It is good fun.
We also gave out some awards at the party. We gave out awards for perfect attendance. We had a lot this semester, so I was very happy. We also gave out awards for TEOFL improvement. In other words, students got awards if they increased their TOEFL scores by more than 30 points. We also had a lot of those. Many students are working hard this term. We also gave out awards for students who got over 500 points on the TOEFL. I think this was the most awards we have given out for breaking 500 points in a couple of years. It was great to see so many people get over 500 points. Finally, we had a few students graduate this term, so we gave them graduation certificates. I am really going to miss them. I hope they have lots of success in their future overseas.
