Welcome back everyone!! How have you all been doing? The season has definitely changed into the beginning stages of summer, so we hope that you are enjoying the nice weather. One of the best parts of summer for us at HIUC is seeing all the old students who have come back to Japan after studying abroad. In most cases, their English has really improved and they are speaking quickly and fluently. More importantly, their increased confidence is good to see. Studying abroad has opened their minds and broadened their perspectives on the world. It is also incredible to hear their news about what they have accomplished. Some students have joined clubs and become vice president or president. Other students have gotten a high GPA, while others have enjoyed their lives and gone on many trips around their universities and states.
In HIUC, the students are not on their summer holiday but are working very hard. The G class has just finished a narrative paragraph about an experience which has changed their life or was impressive to them. They will be doing two presentations this week. In one presentation they will act out a popular fairy tale in Japan, such as Momotaro.
The F class has just completed a big presentation in their listening and speaking class. They had to design an Olympic community and present it to the class. They put in a lot of effort and the speaking was quite smooth. You can see their hard work in the photos below.
The E class has been learning how to keep conversations going with foreigners. They are learning that conversation is like ping pong with questions and giving extra details. They are also learning how to make basic sentences and are starting to write paragraphs.
Have a great week and enjoy the summer holidays!!
