Hello. The winter term at HIUC has finished and the spring term is about to start. On the last day of classes, we had an end-of-term party. We had sushi, pizza, and snacks. The students and the teachers stood around eating and talking. It was a nice way to relax after a busy week of final essays, presentations, and exams.
After that, we had a small awards ceremony. We gave out certificates for having perfect attendance, for getting a TOEFL score over 500, and for having a high GPA. After that, we gave out graduation certificates. Most of the students graduate at the end of the winter term. However, most of them continue to take extra classes in the spring. That way they can improve their English skills further.
After we gave out the graduation certificates, each student made a short speech. They talked a little about their future plans. They talked about where they might go to school, what they wanted to study, and what they wanted to do after graduation. It is always interesting to hear everyone’s plans.
Next week, the spring term will start. I am going to be teaching a college level essay writing class and a college level speech making class. I am looking forward to teaching both classes. I hope the students enjoy the classes. They are a little tough and require a lot of homework, but they also give the students a lot of important skills.
Have a good week.
