Happy holidays everyone!!
I am sure that you are all looking forward to a relaxing time with family and friends over the next two weeks.
During this week at HIUC we had a TOEFL seminar class. We held 3 classes, two for the TOEFL paper test and one class for the iBT computer test. The students learned a lot of strategies and different styles to answer the different kinds of questions. In the paper test classes, the students focused on building their vocabulary and improving their grammar skills. In the iBT test, students also improved their vocabulary by writing down every new word. By the end of the five days most students had a list of 100-150 words. The students also focused on the speaking part of the test and there was lots of practice every day to give focused, smooth presentations on a variety of topics within 45 seconds. Students learned how to answer the different styles of reading and listening questions and how to write a short mini essay in 20-30 minutes.
For the students who are taking the TOEFL test soon, we wish you all the best and hope that you get a good score. Also, very best wishes for 2014. Have a Happy New Year!!
