HIUC’s summer quarter has ended.
Hello. HIUC’s summer quarter has ended. Students are now officially on summer break. However, many of them are not really on break yet. Many students are currently taking an intensive summer TOEFL preparation class. They are working hard on building skills to help them get a higher TOEFL score. It is hard work, but it will pay off when their scores go up next test. When they finish the TOEFL course, they will still have lots of time to enjoy summer.
On the last day of the summer quarter, we had a small party. To mark the end of the term we had pizza, donuts, and drinks. Students could snack while talking to their friends and teachers. Then we handed out some awards. We had three students who graduated. We also had many students who had perfect attendance. That is my favorite award. If you come to school every day and do your best, you will definitely improve.
After the awards, we did some small skits. Students broke up into small groups of 3 to 5 students. They had 10 to 15 minutes to plan a short play. Then each group performed their play in front of the others. We teachers did a short skit too. It was fun to watch all the students use their new English skills to make and act out short plays.
I hope everyone enjoys their summer break and comes back to HIUC eager to learn more English next quarter.
